"Many of the villagers have received tents
or tarpaulins, some are still left to get. But the actual problem here is the foods."
said Vishnu Ranamagar (9862198451) from Manthali Municipality ward - 8 of
Ramechhap to Rapid Response Team. Vishnu Ranamagar is a permanent resident of
Manthali VDC but has been currently residing at Biratnagar. He went there to
see the destruction made by the catastrophic earthquake. Vishnu further said,
"My house is too completely destroyed. I have also been to the nearby
villages to see the situation." He informed us that people there are in
very crucial circumstances. They are surviving on the foods they have cultivated
but no any teams with foods and other relief packages have yet been reached
there. "We are fortunate enough that no any human casualties have so far occurred.
People from all other nearby villages are also in need of foods.", he further added. In
addition to these, children have started to suffer from Diarrhoea and other
diseases. The epidemic diseases are likely to outbreak there. Medical
assistance is urgently needed there to stop the diseases from spreading. Anyone
supposed to help the villages may contact Mr. Vishnu at his number mentioned above or may also
coordinate with us at 9843699155.
Moreover, Government seems more irresponsible and have running away from doing its duty. We talked with Keshav Acchame (9841710404), Deputy Secretary of Constituency - 1 of Ramechhap. Mr. Acchame said,"We have come back to our set destination. The Secretary and Deputy Secretary who were deputed for relief distribution by the government are called back and now the respective CDO's will look after the distribution." It is sad to hear the return of officials from the affected areas at a time when people are desperately in need of urgent help.
