"Powerful people who have larger political networks are getting relief. Relief packages are being distributed through Political links", says Laxmi Phuyal. Laxmi phuyal from Jiling VDC of Nuwakot informed Rapid Response Team on the phone that the relief materials have been distributed there on the basis of political links. Moreover, she also informed that poor and real victims are being provided with the plastics that barely can block sun rays and can easily be torn. She further said,"Though relief materials like rice, pulses, salt, oil, blankets, tents and so on has reached there to be distributed to earthquake victims but they are only provided who have political ties and network".
More that 100 families in the VDC are compelled to spend there nights under those low quality plastics. According to her, government has provided a sum of NRs. 7000 to all the families as relief but has been distributing relief packages on basis of political links. She also informed that the political parties has been saying that few of the materials are lost though they have been distributing those only to their relatives. Though widows, women alone, children, old aged people are to be kept on priority list while distributing relief packages but the parties have failed to do so. In addition, due to lack of proper management of dead animals and destroyed houses, there seems to be an outbreak of epidemic diseases. Most of the houses are destroyed and not suitable for people to shelter there.
